Sex & Love Addicts Anonymous – 12 Step Based Recovery Group

For Professionals and Therapists

For Professionals and Therapists

We hope that you will refer your clients and  patients to S.L.A.A. or S.L.A.A. meetings for additional help. We in this 12 step program believe that all avenues need to be explored. Help comes in many ways. We encourage our members to use professional counseling as well as their work in program.

What sorts of problems and conditions are considered a part of sex and love addiction?

Addictive Sexual Behaviors May Include:

  • Compulsive Masturbation
  • Multiple Affairs
  • Consistent use of Pornography
  • Unsafe Sex
  • Sexual Anorexia
  • Multiple or Anonymous Partners
  • Phone and/or cybersex
  • Computer related addictions
  • Sexual Massage, Escorts, Prostitutes
  • Prostitution
  • Stalking behaviors
  • Loss of intimacy through sexual action or inaction

Many of us now in the program of Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous found our lives had become unmanageable because of our acting out or acting in patterns, anorexia or sex and love addictions.  We were unable to break the addictive cycle by ourselves nor with the help of family, nor friends, nor faith communities or nor counselors.

Some of the problems addictions to sex and love can cause:

  • Loss of job
  • Losses of family
  • Loss of faith community
  • Loss of friends and support persons
  • Police and court involvement

It is generally the policy of SLAA that members go to meetings for their own benefit, that professionals not to accompany clients to meetings.

Generally meetings will not sign for clients nor provide a sign-in list for court mandated appearances to protect the anonymity of others attending meetings.  As individuals we may sign but with the caveat that we cannot break the anonymity of other members at a specific meeting.

We do ask that the addict, not the therapist call the number. It is a first step in acceptance, a commitment and sign of willingness to surrender, a first step in dealing with addictive behaviors.
